About Move It Danceworks

Our Studio

Barbie-10.jpg

We are a family friendly dance studio who have been operating in Island Bay, Wellington, for the last 16 years. We specialise in teaching jazz, ballet, tap, and contemporary. Our goal is to inspire a love of dance in all our students. We have a class to suit everyone whether you have a preschooler looking to take their first ballet class, or an experienced dancer wanting to extend themselves with competitions.

We offer exams for jazz, ballet, and tap under NZAMD, and lyrical/contemporary under FDS as well as a variety of open classes. Students are given opportunities to compete in teams and as soloists in local and national competitions. A highlight for any dancer is always our end-of-year showcase where students get to perform on stage and share their hard work with their friends and whānau.

Chloe Spedding - Director

Chloe is trained in tap, jazz and ballet, having completed her Solo Seal exams in both the NZAMD and TDI syllabi for tap and jazz, and Pre-Advanced TDI ballet. She trained in Tauranga, before moving to Wellington in 2007. She competed for 12 years and attended PACANZ nationals in 2004 and 2006. Chloe grew up in a musical theatre family and this still remains a passion of hers.

In 2008, Chloe started Move It Danceworks, with a handful of jazz classes a week. 16 years later, she's proud to see it grown to around 40 classes a week, in 5 different genres. Chloe enjoys all styles of dance, and dabbles in ballroom and latin from time to time, alongside the styles she teaches. Her favourite genre is tap.

Chloe enjoys the dance competition scene, and as well as teaching solo and troupe work to her students, she runs Upper Hutt Competition Society. Chloe loves sharing her passion for dance with the next generation, and hopes to inspire them.
